Who We Are

At the age of 17 Rachael found herself pregnant with her second child and living on Pitt St mall in Sydney. She struggled to secure accommodation, travelling through NSW and Canberra before eventually finding temporary accommodation in Brisbane. Working at Bertonni will allow Rachael to find a permanent home, and give her children a better start to life than she had.

Simon was 17 when he chose to leave his terrible home situation. He was fortunate to find a bed in a youth shelter. For four years Simon bounced between different short-term accommodation facilities, including a mental health rehab centre. At the age of 21 Simon secured long-term accommodation, and has now begun his first ever job with Bertonni.

Mike is a designer and social entrepreneur who founded Bertonni in 2018. Whilst volunteering with different homeless organisations, Mike realised the importance of employment to people experiencing extreme disadvantage. Bertonni combines Mike's passions for design, entrepreneurship, and empowering those less fortunate.
